James R. Wilson, III (Jake)

Updated 07/21/2014 James Robert Wilson, III was born on August 24th 1994. He is our first boy, and second born. He has always gone by the nickname Jake, but at school his friends and teammates refer to him as "Wilson." Jake is a sports nut, and has always excelled in any sport he tries. He played football and basketball throughout high school. His senior year in high school he focused exclusively on basketball at Zimmerman High School. Standing at 6' 6" he had a successful high school basketball career, leading his team in points, rebounds and blocked shots for his final two years. He set the school career rebound record and finished 2nd for all-time points, scoring 1,085. In both his Junior and Senior year he was named All-Conference. He was also selected to play in the MN Coaches All-Star game his Senior year. Jake received several scholarship offers to play basketball, and signed a national letter of intent to accept a scholarship and become a student-athlete at University of MN - Duluth (UMD). By the end of his Freshman year at UMD he began to get some pretty good playing time. He even started one game - not bad as a Freshman. He was given the option of red-shirting his Sophomore year, which he has decided to do. He will now receive 5 years of scholarship - something that will be valuable if he he continues his current major - Accounting. Jake does a good job academically. He has lots of friends and is always on the go. He is spending the summer in Duluth working for the city, while working out with the basketball team. He and some teammates have rented a house on the edge of campus, where they are living this summer, and will continue to live during the upcoming school term. We miss having Jake in our home, and when he returns to visit, he multiplies the activity level by 200%.
