Lydia Beth Wilson (Lyd)
07/27/1992 - 09/18/2012

Updated 07/21/2014 Lydia Beth Wilson was born on July 27th 1992. She was our first child and our photo and video libraries show it. Lydia died unexpectedly while in her bed very early in the morning on September 18th 2012. She was 20 years old. After the autopsy there was no indication of the cause of death. She just passed away in her sleep.
I can't describe how much I miss her right now. She was a special and unique girl - no one like her. I love her so much. I do know that she is with God in a place that the pain she experienced in this life will hurt no more. I trust in the God I serve, and although I wish he did not take her, and I don't understand, I do trust Him.
Lydia was always a girl who had her own opinions and didn't particularly like being told what to do. That of course didn't stop her parents, so there were more conflicts than we care to mention. Our relationship was getting much better as Lydia grew older. Lydia was always independent, and strong-willed. She was intelligent and possessed leadership qualities. If that girl wanted to accomplish something - she did it. She loved books, movies and animals. Lydia attended Minnesota State University - Moorhead and worked a part time job as a Nanny. She loved those children she nanny'd. When Lydia began college, she made the decision that she wanted to leave behind the painful years of high school and start anew. As part of that, she changed her name to Taylor. Although she didn't legally change her name, she intended to one day. Everyone at college knew her by Taylor Wilson. As a family, we didn't embrace this change, but it was what she wanted. In honor of that, Lydia's gravestone includes the name "Taylor."
At the time of Lydia's death she lived in an apartment in Fargo, ND (which is located a few miles from Moorhead) with a sweet roommate - Mackenzie. Lydia also lived with her two puppies - Sherlock and Pacey. Those two dogs were at the center of Lydia's life, and where you would find Lydia, you would find her doggies! Now one of those doggies lives with us, and the other lives with John Cox, my best friend who lives in Kentucky. Lydia had a few close friends, two who were close for many years. Her childhood friend Gina, and her best friend, Mitzi, were both very special to Lydia.
Needless to say, these past couple of years have very difficult. I suspect losing a child is about the most painful experience one can endure. Tears continue to flow often, as I deal with regrets, miss my beautiful girl, and long to hold Lydia one more time. I want to tell her just how much she means to me – and always will. But she knows. And I have the hope that God provides. We will see each other again - one very special day!
We love you Lydia! We miss you and we rejoice knowing that you are experiencing the joy of God's presence. My step-mother CJ shared these words with me: "In Me, death marks the beginning of the abundant life I intended all along." That is my comfort! Lydia, I can't wait to wrap my arms around you again!
